In fact, the eMMC hard drive is not actually a conventional hard disk drive. While an HDD is a physical hard disk with spinning platters and often a moving mechanical arm to access this storage mass, eMMC is a remote flash storage with no moving parts at all. This makes eMMC drives run more silently, less power hungry, and less prone to shocks. Though it tends to offer lower specifications with capacity and speeds than many of today's best SSDs, it is more appropriate for lightweight processing machinery.
